Paul earned his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at Panjab University in Chandigarh, India in 1984. While working as a research associate in a pharmaceutical company, he was recruited for a post doctoral research position at the University Louis Pasteur in Strasbourg, France. There he was involved in the asymmetric organic synthesis and its application for the synthesis of natural products.
In 1987 he transferred to University of Konstanz in Germany to expand his studies into the fields of glycosphingolipids, ceramides, sphingolipids and inhibitors.
After completing his postdoctoral research in 1989, he worked as a group leader in a pharmaceutical company in Basel, Switzerland. There he developed and manufactured cGMP and research grade natural and unnatural amino acid derivatives, phospholipids, liquid crystals, peptides, and intermediates from bench scale to multi kg scale, and developed new methods of chiral synthesis.
To gain international industry experience, he accepted a position in Torrance, California. His position as an assistant director included cGMP and research grade manufacturing of peptides, intermediates, amino acid derivatives, chromogenic substances, resins for solid phase synthesis, and pharmaceutical products through Synthetic Organic Chemistry procedures.
In 2003 he founded Akaal Organics together with Christina, and has presided the company ever since.
After graduating from high school in Germany, Christina attended college to become a medical lab technician. She gained experience in the medical field working in the central lab of a regional hospital as well as private medical labs. She went on to study various fields of biology in Germany and Switzerland, graduating with a master’s degree in 1995. She worked on analytical methods in the fields of medical parasitology, microbiology, genetics and biochemistry, as well as environmental sciences.
Since 2003, she has been working with Paul, at founding, establishing, as well as conducting management and operations at Akaal Organics.
